A rather chilly weekend, but mostly dry and bright for our Windermere yoga hiking weekend. We were based in a fantastic old building between Windermere and Bowness, with a great pub directly opposite, so those arriving hungry on Friday were able to pop in to get a meal. We also had a great hall for yoga which we made full use of with two classes on Saturday and Sunday.
The weather on Saturday was lovely and clear but a bit cold, so after our first yoga class and a fantastic full breakfast we headed out well wrapped up.
We started our Saturday walk by making our way down to Bowness and caught the ferry across Windermere then walked over to Hilltop, the former home of Beatrix Potter.
After a brief stop to look at the house and the garden made famous by Peter Rabbit, we started our walk across country getting our first views of tarns and the mountains beyond.
With enough warm sunshine to enjoy a quick snooze or just a short rest to enjoy the view.
Our route then took us down to the Lakeshore and we returned through trees with lovely views of the Lake. We arrived at the Claife viewing station which was a great spot for some extra yoga posing.
And a perfect spot for a group photo.
We returned to the Windermere centre for tea and cake to refresh us after our walk and revive us ready for our next yoga class. We had a lovely dinner at the centre and then relaxed before bed.
We were up bright and early for our first yoga class of the day, followed by a full breakfast, before we made our way down to get aboard the Ferry. We took the Bowness Ferry this time north up the lake to Ambleside. A gentle cruise of about 30 minutes to enjoy the scenery.
We disembarked the ferry then made our up the quite steep path to Jenkins Crag. Its a popular viewpoint as it gives such wonderful views of the Lake and the mountains beyond.
Our route then took us along Robins Lane and down into the lovely village of Troutbeck where we stopped beside the river for our lunch break.
The final part of Sundays walk on our Windermere yoga hiking weekend was across open fields which gave great views across Windermere to the higher mountains beyond. We finished our Windermere walk at Orrest Head before a final stroll downhill through the trees to the Windermere Centre.
Where we arrived back in time for more tea and cake a quick shower and change before heading off.
