Our Lake District Yoga Hikes weekend was blessed with lovely dry and sunny weather and a great group of people. We had fantastic accommodation at the Windermere Centre, who provided us lovely breakfasts, our meal on Saturday evening and looked after us all extremely well.
On Saturday morning we were up bright and early for our first yoga class, led by Yen, to warm up muscles and get ready for our hike.
After a delicious cooked breakfast, we headed out for our hike. We started by hiking down through the village of Bowness to catch a short ferry ride across Windermere to Ferry House. We had a short stop to explore the newly restored Claife Heights viewing station, before making our way to the lovely village of Near Sawrey.
The village of Near Sawrey is most famous for Hill Top the former home of Beatrix Potter, but its a lovely village and was looking its best in the sunshine.
We then headed across country to the picturesque, but strangely named, tarns of Moss Eccles and Een Wise. It makes the ideal place for a lunch stop with views across to the Langdale Pikes in the distance.
We also had to make some running repairs to Simone’s boot, which was literally falling apart at the seams.
The next section of the hike on our Lake District yoga and hiking weekend took us down to the western shore of Windermere. We then followed the lake shore back to the ferry and a short walk back up to the centre.
Yen always makes a big effort with cakes and so on our return we had a delicious cream tea with a large pile of Yen’s homemade scones.
After a short break we then settled down for our second yoga class of the day, to stretch out any tired and aching muscles.
A delicious dinner was cooked for us at the centre and then a few of us retired to the pub across the road for a quiet drink before bed.
After our morning yoga class and breakfast we all gathered outside the centre for the start of our Sunday walk. It was a beautiful sunny morning as we then hiked to the Ferry station to catch the cruise up the lake to Ambleside.
It was a perfect morning to enjoy the views as we headed up the lake.
We disembarked at Ambleside and headed uphill through Skelghyll woods to the popular viewpoint of Jenkins Crag.
The final leg of our Sunday walk on this Lake District Yoga hikes weekend, took us to Troutbeck and then up to Orrest Head, where we had some fantastic view of Windermere and the hills beyond.
A fantastic lake district yoga hikes weekend, with great people, terrific weather wonderful hikes and yoga.
